LoreTrek is an audio guide for the Forbidden City. We designed it to need as little of your data as possible.
What we access
Location (including background/"Always"). LoreTrek uses your device location to detect when you walk up to a landmark and play that landmark’s narration automatically, and to show your position on the map. Background ("Always") access lets a narration start while your phone is in your pocket. Your location is processed on your device only — we do not send it to our servers, we do not store your location history, and we do not share or sell it.
No account. LoreTrek does not require sign-up. We do not collect your name, email, or contacts.
No advertising or tracking. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app/website tracking, and we do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
Data we collect and send
At this time LoreTrek does not collect analytics or personal data on our servers. Audio is bundled in the app and plays locally. Landmark photos are loaded from Wikimedia Commons; your device requests those images directly from Wikimedia, which may receive your IP address as part of a normal network request.
Children
LoreTrek is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Your choices
You can revoke location access at any time in your device Settings; auto-play will stop working, but the rest of the app (tap any stop to listen) remains usable.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and publish the new version on this page.
